Ducks Earn 3 Seed in Midwest

The 16th ranked Oregon Ducks (26-7) have been given a three seed in the Midwest bracket by the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee. The Ducks open against Miami (Ohio) on Friday in Spokane, Washington. Also in Oregon's bracket is #1 seed and defending national champion Florida making Oregon's path to the final four a treacherous one.

Miami (Ohio) (18-14) defeated Akron (26-7) in the final of the Mid-American Conference Tournament yesterday to secure an automatic berth in the NCAA tournament. The Redhawks won on a wild last second three pointer by Doug Penno. Miami (Ohio) is led by 6'6" forward Tim Pollitz who leads the team at 15.9 points per game and is the second leading rebounder at 5.7 per game.

Oregon has already matched the number of wins earned by the Elite Eight team led by Luke Ridnour, Luke Jackson, and Freddie Jones in 2001-02. The Ducks come into the NCAA tournament hot having won six games in a row including three routs to take home the Pac-10 Conference Championship.
