A player with a chance to go places with a strong senior season is Zach Schmich, a 6-5, 300 pound offensive lineman from Milwaukie (Ore.) Clackamas. Schmich had a solid showing at the Nike Camp in Eugene (Ore.) and was a standout in the position drills.
"I weighed around 315 pounds then," Schmich
said. "I dropped a lot of weight to improve my quickness. I'm more comfortable at 300, I feel a lot lighter on my feet."
Schmich said he has a top four of Washington, Oregon, Arizona Stae and Oregon State and has heard from all four.
"I really want to play in the Pac 10 and I feel I have the ability to do so," Schmich said. I know I can compete at that level. No one has offered me yet but hopefully they will after seeing me play this year."
Academically, Schmich is carrying a 3.0 GPA and will take the SAT in October.
