OSU is his first choice

Milwaukie (Ore.) offensive lineman Jon Opperud just finished camping at Oregon State and left with good feelings about the Beaver program.

According to Jon's mom Gail, he really enjoyed working with the Beaver coaches especially Mike Cavanaugh.

"He thinks Cavanaugh is a great coach," wrote Gail in an email to eDuck.com "Coach Cavanaugh helped him realize what he needs to work on improving.

Gail Opperud believes her son thinks the OSU coaching staff really seems to care about the players.

"OSU will be his first choice if he gets an offer from them, not only for the football program but also because of the engineering program they offer," said Gail Opperud.

Jon is still hearing from about the same group - OSU, UNLV, Boise State, Idaho, Arizona State and Portland State, plus a back east. According his mom, Jon really wants to stay west if he can. He is finished with camps with the exception of the PSU camp in July. Jon attended the SPARQ testing in Hillsboro on June 8th went to the Nike combine in Eugene on the 9th and then did the half day camp at Oregon the day after.

Jon Opperud is going to focus on improving himself based on information he received at the camps and get ready for the season at Milwaukie.
