Long Beach Poly Lineman Impressive in Hawaii

Charles Owens, 6-3, 280 pound offensive lineman from Long Beach Poly (Calif.) was one of the most impressive lineman we saw on either side of the ball in the Hawaii double header featuring Poly, De La Salle (Calif.) Kahuku (Hawaii) and St. Louis (Hawaii).

Owens is big, strong and very athletic. He moves very well laterally and can get out and pull and trap very nicely. His athleticism allows him to make blocks down the field on linebackers and defensive backs and he was dominating his man all night long.

"I felt I did really well out there," Owens told us. "We ran behind me a lot and I feel like I opened up some pretty big holes. Our whole line played well though, it wasn't just me. I was just doing my best out there helping us get a big win."

Owens was also very impressive at both the SoCal and NorCal Nike camps and is emerging as one of the top offensive lineman on the West Coast.

Charles is a three-star lineman as rated by TheInsiders.com. His top-five list (in no particular order) includes Colorado, Michigan, Florida, Notre Dame and Oregon. None of Owens' top-five have yet offered a scholarship.
