Trio Named to District All-Academic Team

EUGENE, Ore. – A trio of Oregon women's soccer players have been named to the ESPN The Magazine all-academic District 8 teams, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Junior defender Darcie Gardner was named to the all-district second team, while junior goalkeeper Jessie Chatfield and junior defender Nicole Dobrzynski earned third team honors.

Gardner, from Bellingham, Wash., has a 3.81 grade point average in human physiology. She leads all Duck defenders with three goals and an assist for seven points. Gardner was a first team selection a year ago as a sophomore.

Chatfield, from Eugene, Ore., holds a 3.82 gpa in mathematics. Earlier this season, she became Oregon's career leader in shutouts with 15 and wins with 25. She has an 8-7-3 record with a 1.41 goals against average so far in 2007.

Dobrzynski, from Danville, Calif., has started all 18 games at defender and has a 3.81 gpa in business administration.

Both Chatfield and Dobrzynski were second team honorees in 2006.

It is just the second time in school history that Oregon has had three players named to the District 8 team.
