Ducks 9th in BCS Standings

EUGENE, Ore. -- Following Thursday night's 34-24 road loss at the hands of Arizona, the Oregon Ducks fell from second to ninth in the latest BCS Standings released Sunday. Oregon is also No. 9 in the AP Top 25, but slipped to No. 10 in the USA Today (coaches) and Harris polls.

As expected, unbeaten Kansas took over the No. 2 spot, with one-loss LSU remaining in the catbird's seat.

The Ducks (8-2, 5-2 Pac-10) are in second place in the Pac-10, tied with No. 11 USC (8-2, 5-2). Arizona State (9-1, 6-1), which moved up to sixth in the BCS, faces the Trojans on Thursday. With three Pac-10 teams among the top 14 in the BCS Standings, there is a strong chance of an at-large BCS bowl bid for the conference runner-up. The Pac-10 winner will advance to the Rose Bowl.

Next up for the Ducks is what they hope is a preview trip to Pasadena, Calif., on Saturday when they face UCLA at the Rose Bowl. The game, which will be televised regionally on ABC, kicks off at 12:30 p.m. PT.
