Texas QB Latest Visitor

The Oregon Ducks are looking for some Dennis Dixon clones and this weekend it appears there maybe three candidates visiting Autzen Stadium for the 111th Annual Civil War.

As reported by Rivals.com, eDuck was able to verify that quarterback Darron Thomas, 6-3, 195, Houston (Texas) Aldine HS, rated 4-stars and ranked 11th nationally, will visit Oregon this weekend.

Thomas has made a verbal commitment to LSU, but appears teetering on his decision as the Ducks seek a mobile quarterback to fit in the spread offense that was so successful under Dixon's leadership. Dixon was the leading Heisman Trophy candidate until a torn ACL ended his season and quest for the trophy as well as Oregon's bid for the BCS National Championship game.

Two other quarterbacks are visiting Oregon this weekend as well as Thomas. Jacory Harris, 6-4, 171, Miami (Fla.) Miami Northwestern HS, also a 4-star quarterback, ranked No. 12 nationally and Chris Harper, 6-2, 220. Harper is from Witchita (Kan.) Northwest HS, and is versatile athlete that can play quarterback, running back or linebacker in football and is also a basketball prospect, playing for K.C. Keys 16, an AAU team as well as his high school team.

Ten visitors are expected to be in Eugene this weekend. eDuck Sports and Scout.com have identified nine of those athletes. Including the three quarterbacks, the other known visitors are DT Justin Thompson, center Hamani Stevens, WR Tommy Streeter, DT Spencer Gasu, DE Brandon Sesay and safety Charles Germany-Satchell.

Gasu has already given the Ducks a verbal commitment.
