Excited Embry Ready For Eugene

Wide receiver Garrett Embry, 6-1, 208, Roswell (Ga.) Roswell HS, was so excited about his official visit to the campus of the University of Oregon this last weekend that he even asked his dad there was anyway of graduating mid-term so that the talented wide receiver could enroll at the Eugene school early.

"He asked me what he could do to graduate in mid-semester," said Maury Embry, Garrett's dad. "He 's really excited about going."

Garrett Embry verbally committed to Oregon last September and has been solid to the Ducks every since. He had a great year as a receiver on a team that was mostly a run-dominated offense.

Embry's team finished 10-3 this season and Garrett ended up with 36 catches for 848 yards and eight touchdown receptions. He also had a rushing touchdown. His best game was against Peachtree Ridge, a team that boasts of having three Division I-bound defensive backs and Embry caught seven passes for 136 yards and a touchdown. According to his dad, Embry did most of his work in the first half of games and six games he didn't play past the second quarter. Garrett picked up a lot of yards after catch which should help him when he starts competing for playing time in the future with the Ducks.

Maury Embry said that Garrett spent a lot of time on his official visit with coaches, particularly with Robin Pflugrad and Don Pellum in addition to head coach Mike Bellotti.

Garrett Embry wasn't available when eDuck called, and Mr. Embry was unsure who else may have committed on the official visit and said that Garrett would contact eDuck with more information about his trip.
