The Ducks went cold and couldn't buy a break against the tough defense of Washington State Saturday night. The 62-53 loss puts the Ducks squarely on "the bubble" for the NCAA tournament. Were they robbed by the refs? More likely it was shooting 4-17 from the arc, but the boys in black and white didn't do the Ducks any favors.
Joevan Catron (50) got the Ducks started early with this drive to the basket around Robbie Cowgill. Catron finished the game with 8 points on 3-of-4 shooting. (Photo by Chris Wilson)
It was a rough night for the Ducks under the basket as the fans and the refs didn't seem to agree on what constituted a foul. Maarty Leunen (10) appears to take an arm to the face while driving on Robbie Cowgill (34) but didn't get a call. (Photo by Chris Wilson)
Ernie Kent was furious with the officiating and here he gives the men in stripes an earful.
Despite Kent's protests, Malik Hairston (1) wasn't given a chance for a three point play, despite what looks like a forearm to the head by WSU's Aron Baynes (11). (Photo by Chris Wilson)
If not for the efforts of Maarty Leunen, this game might have been a blow-out. Here Leunen flushes two of his 20 points. He added 6 rebounds, a block and 2 steals. (Photo by Chris Wilson)
This three pointer by Luenen (who was 4-of-7 from long distance) cut the lead to three late. The next trip down saw Maarty sink two free throws to cut it to one with just under three minutes left, before the Ducks faded. The team now faces the daunting task of likely having to win four of their next five to make the NCAA tournament. (Photo by Chris Wilson)
