3-Star WR Sets Oregon Visit

Charles Smith, the gifted wide receiver from La Mesa (Calif.) Helix thought he might visit Arizona State last weekend but that was put on hold. He has set up an official visit to Oregon this weekend to watch two of his favorite teams go at it.

Smith, 6-0, 175 pounds has had a solid season despite the fact that Helix has been a predominately running team this season.

"We haven't thrown much so I've even played some quarterback to get more touches," Smith said. "We've run a little bit of option so that's been fun. I have 15 catches for 450 yards and five touchdowns right now and we're 8-1 and ranked No. 1 in our division."

Smith was planning to visit ASU last weekend but canceled it because his father was unable to go with him. He will take an official trip to Oregon this weekend to watch the Ducks take on Washington in a battle of his top two teams.

"I can't wait, it's going to be a fun weekend," Smith said. "Oregon is my top school and Washington is right behind them. I'm also going to visit Arizona December 6 and Washington January 10. I'm not sure if I'll be able to visit ASU, I might, but the schools I have visits with are my top three and the main ones I'm looking at right now.

"I'm pretty committed to taking all three of those visits. I know I'll have a good time this weekend and if everything goes well, I could commit but even if I did, I would still take my other two trips. I definitely want to visit UA and Washington before making anything final."
