Looking forward to the Competition

Oregon's newest quarterback, Jeremiah Masoli will be joining his teammates as soon as summer session starts in June. Masoli, had a big year last year at CCSF and was considered the top Junior College quarterback in the nation. Being the number one guy in the country could cause some to wonder why Masoli chose the Ducks, a team with a bevy of talented signal callers.

"All those guys are great quarterbacks, with great arms and good skills," said Jeremiah Masoli of his future teammates. "I have confidence in myself and want to compete. Competition makes everyone better."

While at CCSF, Masoli threw for 3,592 yards on 258-of-421 (61.3 percent) and had 30 touchdowns with only five interceptions all year. He also rushed for 448 yards and 11 scores.

When Masoli visited Oregon, it was a gut feeling that told him that Eugene was the right place for him. From the players and coaches to the campus and the city, the total package was the final selling point for Masoli to pick Oregon as the place he'll spend the next three years of his life.

While he thinks the spread is a great offense, as a quarterback he's ready to play no matter what the coaches call. He was a quarterback in a wishbone offense his first three years of high school, so he'll be ready for anything Oregon Offensive Coordinator Chip Kelly has in store.
