Costa Injures Knee at Practice

Eugene - Oregon Head Coach Mike Bellotti said today that quarterback Nate Costa injured his knee in practice yesterday.

"Nate injured his knee in practice yesterday, but continued to play," said Mike Bellotti. "We did tests today but we have no results."

The injury occurred on a non-contact play where Costa made a cut but continued to play for the rest practice. Costa reported the soreness to the trainers after practice ended.

The orthopedic surgeon who will determine Costa's condition is out of town until Sunday. No decision regarding Costa's status can be made before the doctor's return.

Costa will not scrimmage tomorrow. The injury is to the same knee that was hurt last year.

Bellotti will now delay naming a starting quarterback.

Bellotti also mentioned that he will take a stronger look Jeremiah Masoli's wrist injury to determine his position on the depth chart.
