James Harris told Drew Davis to eat ice cream because it was something that he could swallow following a tonsillectomy two weeks ago. Davis had to sit out the Washington game last Saturday and hopes that he can work his way back into the line up (and his uniform) against the Utah State Aggies on Saturday at Autzen Stadium with a 12:30 p.m. kickoff.
So that there is no misunderstanding of Davis' true condition, if eating the ice cream put on any extra pounds, it wasn't noticeable. Conditioning-wise, Davis went through Tuesday's practice just fine and it's highly likely he along with several other of his teammates are going to see time against Utah State.
On Tuesday, Oregon Head Coach Mike Bellotti talked about getting players into the game against the Aggies that may prove to be beneficial down the road. Bellotti wants to get some of the reserves in key situations, not just in mop up duty. Davis hopes to be one of the players to make up for some lost time, even if he did have to spend it eating ice cream.
Hopes to burn off the ice cream calories
