No Word on Starter

Oregon Head Coach Mike Bellotti isn't revealing any secrets this week as the Ducks prepare for Boise State on Saturday at Autzen Stadium. The No. 12 (Coaches Poll) ranked Ducks are fresh off a big road win against Purdue and are looking to improve to 4-0 against the Broncos. The big question though, who is going to be the Ducks' starting quarterback?

"I probably won't tell can watch the first play of the game on offense and that will probably be the first time anybody knows who the starter is," said Oregon Head Coach Mike Bellotti when asked if any determinations had been made with regard to who would start this upcoming weekend vs. Boise State.

Bellotti said that both Jeremiah Masoli and Chris Harper would see action, but gave no indication on who might receive the majority of the snaps.

When asked about current status of Justin Roper, Bellotti expressed much more positive information.

"Justin Roper is doing great! He is off the crutches, he's walking around with a brace...he has a partial tear of the MCL."

Bellotti indicated that Roper has been ruled out of the Boise State contest but his status has been changed to questionable for Washington State and probable for USC.

"Again, it'll be a question of having no setbacks but he has an endpoint, which means the ligament is not torn," concluded Bellotti.

The head coach made it clear that Roper's injury is a strain and that some fibers are torn. There is some swelling in the knee but that would subside in a few days.

According to Bellotti, the medical personnel have Roper using crutches, boot or brace for three or four days and after that it will be normal rehabilitation for that type of injury.
