Ducks Jump out 23-6 on Sun Devils

Tempe -- Oregon jumped out to a 23-6 lead at halftime hold Arizona State to just four first downs and 89 yards in the first half.

The Ducks scoring started on a 43-yard touchdown run by Jeremiah Johnson in the first quarter. The Ducks would strike again in the opening stanza when quarterback Jeremiah Masoli rushed in from the 3. The subsequent PAT missed, but in the second quarter LeGarrette Blount blasted a 9-yard run to boost the score to 20-0 after the PAT.

Matt Evensen hit a 52-yard field goal attempt to make the score 23-0.

ASU only score came with Masoli threw a bad ball and it was returned to the 1. Rudy Carpenter scored on a 1-yard plunge but the point after was missed.

Masoli is the game's leading rusher with 48 yards on five carries with a long of 28. Johnson had 46 yards on six carries while Blount had 26 also six totes.

Masoli was 11-of-16 for 68 yards and an interception but was only technically sacked once when he was ran out of bounds behind the line of scrimmage. Jeff Maehl was the leading receiver with four catches for 28 yards. Terence Scott had three catches for 26 yards.

Dimitri Nance had three carries for 29 yards. Rudy Carpenter was 6-for-16, 54 yards and two interceptions. He was also sacked three times in the first half.
