Sunday practice update

Eugene -- The Oregon Ducks were inside the Moshofsky Center today running through drills as they prepare for a bowl game. While it is very likely that San Diego will be the destination for the Pacific Life Holiday Bowl no formal announcement has come from the Holiday Bowl committee.

An announcement could come as soon as this afternoon on the pairings though Oregon Head Coach Mike Bellotti might be on an airplane headed out on a recruiting trip when the word comes in. The Ducks practice today but will take most of this week off for finals.

Oregon coaches will use the time this week to recruit for 2009.

Bellotti indicated that the team will manage to have about 15 practices if the Holiday Bowl is the destination and he and his team look forward to the possibility of playing in that game.

If Oregon is selected for the San Diego trip, the team would leave Eugene on Christmas day.

The Ducks will have a couple more weekends to host visitors but will enter a dead period on December 22-January 1. That means that potential student-athletes can attend practices in San Diego, but the coaches would not able to talk to them while they are there according to Bellotti.

Bellotti characterized his team as being "healthy" although there are some minor bumps and bruises.
