Ducks pick up LB verbal.

TheInsiders.com spoke tonight with 6-1.5, 235-pound athlete Jerome Johnson from Los Angeles (Calif.) Dorsey, and he confirmed that he has made a verbal commitment to play football for the Oregon Ducks. He chose the Ducks over offers from Washington, Wisconsin and USC.

"I like it a lot up there," Jerome said. "And I have a lot of friends that are already playing up there. Marques Binns, Steven Moore and Terrence Whitehead."

Jerome made his commitment to Don Pellum on Monday.

"Coach Bellotti is calling tonight," Johnson said. "Coach Pellum said that all the coaches really want me to play for Oregon. They like the way I play."

Jerome's official visit to Eugene is on January 10th.

"Wisconsin and Washington want me to go on a trip anyway, so I probably will," he said, but added that if Oregon didn't want him to take those visits he wouldn't. Johnson brings Oregon's commit total to 11, with four of them happening in the last week. Jerome plays both ways for Dorsey, and is being recruited as an athlete.

"They have me down as an athlete right now," he said. "But I think I might play offense (either FB or TE)." He plays DE and LB for Dorsey defensively.
