Walker: Texas Quarterback Looks For UO Offer
Have you had any contact with Oregon?
"I've been receiving recruitment letters and [the last person] I talked to was [former wide receivers coach] Pflugrad...I probably receive mail twice a week from [Oregon]."
What would you say your overall interest in Oregon is?
"My overall interest in Oregon is real high. I mean the offense is ridiculous. They do everything. They put up big numbers...and as far as checking out the facilities and stuff like that, [Oregon] is a real good look."
Would you say that the facilities and the offense are what has you most interested right now?
"Yes sir, and the fact that Coach Bellotti [is going to be around] for awhile."
How would you describe yourself as a player?
"My school is pretty much pro-style. I could say pro-style quarterback, but we run a lot of spread stuff too, so I can kind of do both. I can use my legs to get myself out of trouble and find a receiver down field. I also use my smarts to make plays."
Would you compare yourself to anyone at the collegiate or professional level?
"At the professional level I'd say I'm more of a [Donovan] McNabb [style of quarterback], because I don't want to say I'm going to tuck and run for 80 [yards] but I get the needy yards."
What would you say you are looking for in a program?
"I'm really kind of a family guy as far as when it comes to football, so the coaching staff has to be down to earth and they have to [positive] contact with their players. The offense isn't really a big deal, the defense isn't really a big deal, I just need something that fits me."
Have you received any offers from other schools?
"I received [official] offers from Oklahoma State and Nebraska and my coach says I should be receiving offers from Kansas, Northwestern, and Illinois."
Do you have any leaders at this point?
"Currently my favorite is Oklahoma State, but if Oregon offered me they would rank up there."
Would you consider taking an official visit to Oregon if they offered it?
Are you planning on going to any camps later this spring or in the summer?
"The Elite 11 [qualifier] quarterback camp at TCU and I'm going to attend the Nike Training Camp."
Are you planning on attending any Junior Days?
"I haven't really scheduled any Junior Days."
