McCartney "Loves The Way Oregon Plays"

Undoubtedly one of the top high schools prospects in the state of Florida for 2010, Miramar High School wide receiver, Ivan McCartney, is poised to make a considerable splash heading in to his senior season. There appears to be mutual interest between the Ducks and McCartney, with McCartney claiming an Oregon offer.

Do you currently hold an offer from Oregon?

"Yes sir."

How often would you say that you are in contact with Oregon?

"I would say about every two weeks."

Who do you usually speak with?

"Either Coach Kelly or Coach Frost."

What would you say your overall interest in Oregon is?

"[On a scale from 1 to 10] an 8."

What has you most interested in Oregon?

"I would say the type of offense that they run. I have to do more research on [what they offer] education wise and recruiting wise, but I just love the way that Oregon plays football."

How would you describe yourself as a wide receiver?

"Athletic. Smart. I feel like I'm a leader [and] I'm very coachable."

Would you compare yourself to anyone at the collegiate or professional level?

"There's a lot of people I'd compare myself to. Depending on if it was jumping wise, I'd say Larry Fitzgerald. Running routes and catching the ball: Chad Johnson. After I catch the ball I'd say Steve Smith and when it come to being an athlete at different positions, I'd say Percy Harvin."

Has Oregon talked about where they would like to deploy you, as far as, on the outside or the inside?

"We haven't really talked about that yet...I can play either slot or outside."

What are you looking for in a program?

"I would say first and foremost, education. Football wise I would say early playing time and [the] connection with the coaches and my teammates."

Do you hold any offers from other schools?

"[I have offers from] Florida, University of Miami, West Virginia, Rutgers, Ole Miss, USF, FIU...that's all I can think of right now."

Is anyone leading at this point?

"Yeah I have a top five...Oregon, University of Miami, Florida, West Virginia, and Ohio State."

In that order?

"Not really. I haven't really sorted everything out yet, but those are my top five schools."

Are you planning on going to any camps later this spring or in the summer?

"Yeah. I'll be going to the Oregon spring game on May 2nd. I'll be going to the Ohio State spring game [which] I think is at the end of March...and that's all I know of right now."

Do you have any Junior Days that you plan on attending?

"I think I'll have to check with my coach on that one."
