Super Mario!

Hailing from a school that is notorious for producing quality Division I/FBS talent, Oakland (CA) Bishop O'Dowd running back, Mario Brown, appears ready to follow in the footsteps of those who came before him. As one of the fastest players in California, Brown has built much of his reputation on being a blur in the open field, however, he aims to prove he's no one-trick pony.

Do you currently hold an offer from Oregon?

"Currently I do not hold an offer."

Have you had any contact with them?

"I've just been getting letters from them, that's about it."

What would you say your overall interest in Oregon is?

"Oh man, very high. I would love to go to Oregon. I'm very interested in them."

Is there a particular thing about the program that has you interested in them?

"Well I mean, just the area in general. I've been up to Oregon before and it's pretty nice out there and I hear they have great facilities and what not. It just seems like a nice overall place."

Where did you go when you visit Oregon?

"Actually I was in Eugene, but I didn't go to the University of Oregon...it was for a class trip."

How would you describe yourself as a running back?

"As a running back I feel like I'm very unique. My style can kind of vary. I can be an elusive back, I can be the 2-3 yards, short yardage back...my style varies. I can pretty much do anything, I believe."

Would you compare yourself to anyone at the collegiate or professional level?

"If I had to I would say I'm more of a Joe McKnight, C.J. Gable, Reggie Bush, Jahvid [Best], you know, one of those types of backs. I'm kind of a home run back also. I can make the big plays...a speed back, but I can pound it if it's necessary."

What are you looking for in a program?

"I'm just looking for that home feeling. If I go and visit a school, I just want to feel accepted. I just want to feel that home environment like I'm welcome here and that that certain college is interested in me."

Do you hold any offers from other schools?

"Currently I do not hold any offers."

What schools have been showing a lot of interest?

"Well UNLV, they showed a lot of interest when they came and visited me. Boise State, I just talked to them. Arizona, Cal is showing me some interest, University of North Dakota, and I just talked to [Offensive line coach] Pat Ruel from USC and he has a little bit of interest in me and he said to come up to the school in maybe two or so weeks...Washington State University. I've been getting a lot of letters from Oregon and Washington."

Do you have any favorites at this point?

"No I don't. I'm open to whoever is interested in me. I just want to play football at the next level. I'm just open, that's just who I am."

Have you attended, or are you planning on attending any camps this spring?

"I plan on going to some camps during the summer; not too many because I feel I just [need] to stay in school and lift and work with my trainer and kind of hone my skills and do what I need to do. As far as camps, I'll go to a couple. I'll go to the Cal camp, I'll be attending maybe the B2G Elite Camp down in L.A. Arizona is hosting a camp I believe at St. Mary's College and that's pretty much it. I haven't attended any camps so far because I'm in track season and right now I'm just keeping my mind focused on track until I move on into football season."
