Three-star Linton Waiting For Offers To Come

La Mesa (CA) Helix wide receiver, Sean Linton, comes from a school that has produced tremendous star power over the years, most notably with NFL players such as, Reggie Bush and Alex Smith, and NBA great Bill Walton. While Linton has yet to achieve that type of status, he appears ready and willing do what it takes in order to achieve the dream.

Do you currently hold an offer from Oregon?

"No, I don't. I don't have an offer from them yet."

Have you had any contact with the Oregon coaches?

"No, not really. I have only received a form letter from them for the [Oregon] camp."

What is your overall interest in Oregon?

"It's fairly high. I really like their program and how they run their offense and how they're a winning program, that really interests me. I watch a lot of their games too and I liked the way [former Oregon head coach] Mike Bellotti coached."

How would you describe yourself as a player?

"Some role me as a possession receiver, but I think this year -- during the spring -- I progressed from a possession receiver to a big playmaker because I work on my speed three times a week...I work on my explosiveness and recently I ran a 4.47 [in the 40]. Last year I was at a 4.6 and now I'm at a 4.4, so I think that's a big jump. I worked on my hands and my routes, so I think this year I'm going to try to make some big plays for my team and hopefully takes us to CIF."

Would you compare yourself to anyone at the collegiate or professional level?

"I don't know if I could compare myself to anyone at the professional level. I'm just working hard."

What are you looking for in a program?

"First is academics, because I'm planning on getting my degree, so academics is a big factor. How the program is ran, as far as the coaches, if I like the coaches and probably the atmosphere and the team and how they practice. A team [that gives] a winning effort. I don't want a team that doesn't help other players around them. I like players that help me so I can get the offense and get comfortable with the team."

Do you currently hold any offers?

"I have an offer from Air Force. They just recently gave it to me last week."

Is there any other schools that you feel might be close to offering?

"I think UCLA, maybe. Maybe UCLA and Boise State, but none of them have really contacted me so far. I think my recruiting just started, because I started football when I was a freshman, so last year was my first year playing varsity and I just started getting recruited this year, so I'm just being patient and waiting and working hard and hopefully some offers will come in."

Do you have any favorite schools at this point?

"There's a wide variety, but I think the schools I'm interested are Oregon, Boise [State], Utah. Those are my three that I really like, but I'll go anywhere that wants me to play for them -- I'll consider them too -- but those are my top three."

Have been to, or are to planning on attending any camps later this spring or in the summer?

"Yes, I've been to the 7-on-7 at UNLV and I went to the Nike camp at USC and I'm going to the combine on May 30 and I might also go to the UCLA one-day camp."

Have you taken any unofficial visits yet?

"Last year on our bye week, me and my teammate, Brandon Watson, we took an unofficial visit to LSU. We have family out there, so we took a visit out there and it was pretty easy, we had a place to stay and we had someone drive us around, so we visited the campus and then we went to the facilities and saw their practice field and saw the coaches office. That's the only unofficial visit I took so far."

Do you have any more unofficial visits planned?

"Not right now. I'm just training right now, but hopefully I'll try to get some unofficial visits around the area, like on the West coast."
