Weightlifters to Compete on Saturday

Will someone break Haloti Ngata's power clean record of 407 pounds or Ngata and Igor Olshansky's record of 505 pounds in the bench press? This weekend those records may stand but not because of lack of effort or competition as the 18th-annual Oregon Weightlifting Classic starts at 11 a.m. inside the Casanova Center weight room.

When the participants compete in the five separate weight classes (within age groups and broken in men and women divisions) the scores will be an aggregate of total weights lifted in the clean and jerk and the snatch competition.

The competition is open to the public and is free. Competitors and spectators are asked to enter the Casanova Center through the doors at the east end of the building nearest Autzen Stadium.
