Shirley Is One Of The Inland Empire's Finest

California's Inland Empire is stacked with some of the best prep talent on the entire West Coast this season. Currently holding 22 offers, Fontana (CA) Henry J. Kaiser linebacker, Josh Shirley, is certainly counted amongst that group. eDuck Sports caught up with Shirley to discuss recruiting and the peculiar uncertainty surrounding a certain offer.

Do you currently have an offer from Oregon?

"I really don't even know. I haven't talked to the coaches, they haven't called me. People have told me that [I do have an offer}, but the coach hasn't told me that."

Which coaches from Oregon have you been in contact with?

"[Coach] Tom Osborne."

When was the last time you were in touch with Coach Osborne?

"About a month ago...I think it was about a month. I called him back, but he didn't answer. I think he was on vacation or something."

What would you say your overall interest level in Oregon is?

"I have a good interest in Oregon. I don't have a top five so I wouldn't say I could rate them in a list one to five, but they are a school I'm interested in."

What about the program has you interested?

"The atmosphere. The atmosphere, the way I'll be taken care of. They have state-of-the-art equipment, so if I get hurt, I'll have something to fall back on to get me back to health."

How would you describe yourself as a player?

"I would say I don't give up. I won't back down. I would say I'm mean...I don't want to cuss, but I would say I'm mean."

Would you compare yourself to anyone at the collegiate or professional level?

"I don't even know...I'm just waiting to get there."

What are you looking for in a program?

"Coaching. How aggressive they are, how in your ass they're going to be. I kind of like that."

What offers do you currently hold right now?

"I have 22...USC, UCLA, Oregon, I mean I don't know if I have Oregon but...Tennessee, Miami, Washington, Arizona."

Have you taken any unofficial visits yet? Have you thought about which official visits you'll be taking?

"[Unofficial] just to USC and UCLA because they're close. I am going to take all five of my official visits."

But you haven't decided where you'll visit yet?

If you were to find out you have an offer from Oregon, would that be an official visit you would consider?
