Kicker Switches to Oregon

As the 2010 recruiting season winds down, several surprises were bound to occur. For kicker Alejandro Maldonado, it was a visit to Eugene and a change of mind.

Alejandro Maldonado Did you commit to Oregon?

What was the deciding factor?

Comfort and I just felt happier at Oregon.

Who was your host?

Jackson Rice. He's a great guy. We hung out, went to his dorm, and went around campus. He's funny but really cool. So are the players. The treated me as if I was their brother. I felt that Oregon is where I can succeed in school and football, and be happy for the next four or five years.

When will you enroll?

This summer for summer school.

Maldonado punted 24 times last season for 968 yards with an average punt of 40.33 yards. He also kicked off 67 times racking up 4,014 yards with a long of 70 yards and had 55 touchbacks. Maldonado kicked 51 PATs and four field goals scoring a total of 63 points.

Maldonado picked Oregon over offers from Washington and Nevada.
