Ducks In Pursuit Of Arnett

When it comes to receivers, few compare to the exemplary talents of Saginaw (MI) wide receiver DeAnthony Arnett. Currently rated as a four-star recruit by Scout.com, Arnett is one of the nation's premier talents at the wide receiver position in 2011. eDuck Sports caught up with Arnett recently to discuss recruiting and a certain team from the Pacific Northwest.

Do you currently have an offer from Oregon?

"Yes I do."

How much contact have you had with Oregon?

"I've been talking with them quite a bit. We've been talking back and forth."

How often are you in contact with the coaches from Oregon?

"I wouldn't say too often. Right in the middle."

Which coaches from Oregon have you been in the most contact with?

"I talked to Coach (Scott) Frost and (Jim) Fisher and somebody else. I forgot his name."

What is your overall interest in Oregon at this point?

"I'm very interested. I know they're returning all their starters back. I'm pretty much just interested to see how their offense plays out this year. I'm just going to watch their offense and how they get the ball to their receivers and stuff like that."

What is it that has you interested in Oregon?

"They were the first school on me. They've been on me since the 9th grade. I've been getting mail from them since I was in 9th grade. They were one of the first schools to offer me."

How would you describe yourself as a receiver?

"Pretty much both outside or slot. Either one really wouldn't matter. I prefer the outside though because I can stretch the field and go get the ball against whoever. Definitely fast, quick, great hands, and great route running...I'm just improving on getting in and out of my cuts more that's all."

Would you compare yourself to anyone at the collegiate or professional level?

"Well Randy Moss is my favorite receiver of all-time. I just can't pattern my game after him because he's 6'6'' (laughter), but I watch DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin -- those types of guys -- and Michael Crabtree and how he runs his routes so smooth and how he breaks off his cuts and stuff like that. I really watch those three a lot."

What are you looking for in a program?

"I'm definitely looking for a place where I can feel very comfortable around. Definitely the environment and how the people are down there...I want to play for a coach that's going to make me tougher and get me ready for the NFL."

Is distance a factor for you at all?

"No, no, no. Not at all, not at all."

How many offers do you hold at this point?

"13 or 14...Alabama, USC, Michigan State, Michigan, Iowa, Oregon, Illinois, Purdue, Cincinnati, Tennessee, Wisconsin, etc."

Do you have a top three or anything like that at this point?

"I got a top nine right now. USC, Notre Dame, and Michigan State I put those schools as my top three. Let me get this straight, no one is a favorite. I just put the top three up there because those are the three schools that I feel give me the best chance at the NFL. In addition to that, it's Alabama, Iowa, Michigan, Cincinnati, Tennessee, and Oregon."

Which schools have you had the most contact with?

"The Michigan State coaches they're probably definitely the most. Them, Notre Dame, and USC...and Iowa. I've really been talking to them a lot."

Are you planning on attending any camps later this spring or in the summer?

"I'll be at the Michigan Showcase on Sunday and on March 28 I'll be at the 7-on-7 camp at Michigan."

Have you been to any Junior Days yet or are you planning on attending any Junior Days?

"I've been up to Michigan. That's the only Junior Day that I've been to. I was supposed to go to Ohio State's but we got a basketball game Friday and Saturday so I can't go."
