Ducks Rate Highly For Five-Star Moala

There are few players in the Class of 2011 who truly dominate the competition at their respective position. In the case of Sacramento (CA) Grant five-star defensive tackle Vili Moala, he is the exception to this rule. Virtually unblockable at the high school level, Moala holds scholarship offers from just about every major football program in the nation.

Do you currently have an offer from Oregon?

How long ago did you get that offer?

"Beginning of June."

What kind of contact have you had with the Oregon coaches since the recruiting process started for you?

"Just mail and e-mail."

Have you been in touch with any of the coaches personally?

"I think it was the linebackers coach (Don Pellum) that came down."

What have the nature of your conversations with Coach Pellum been like?

"They were really surprised how I came out my junior year. They're really excited to recruit me. They offered me that same day. They'd seen the drills, saw how I move, and they said they liked it."

What is your overall interest in Oregon?

"It's pretty high because a lot of our players, we're trying to go to the same college and they all like it, so we're just waiting for us to take trips."

Have you discussed with the coaching staff at Oregon any dates for trips or anything like that?

"Not at all, not at all."

What in particular has you interested in Oregon right now?

"It's pretty high. My little brother is a big fan. He was telling me all about the campus...he's been there before. He said he likes it there, so I'm expecting to take a visit there."

How would you describe yourself as a player?

"A really hard worker. When it comes down to it, I'm down to do anything. The fourth quarter, I try my best...I try my best so I won't be fatigued in the fourth quarter. I'm always open minded to take any advice. I think I'm overall a good player."

Would you compare yourself to anyone at the collegiate or professional level?

"Haloti Ngata, the defensive tackle for the Ravens."

What are you looking for in a program?

"Just a family oriented place where everybody is cool with everybody...everybody is family. I want to go somewhere where my family can watch or watch me on TV or where they can travel."

Have you given any thought as to what you might want to study when you get to college?

"Mechanical Engineering."

What are some of the offers that you hold from other schools?

"I've got plenty of offers. The top teams from the East Coast are Florida, Miami, Alabama, LSU...that's all I can remember for the top teams. Out here it's USC, Cal, Oregon, Washington, UCLA, Kansas...a lot of teams. I'm trying to figure out a list so I can start breaking it down."

Do you have group of schools who are leading for you at this point?

"Not at all. I'm trying to figure it out. I'm trying to do my homework figuring out what college is the best for me...still struggling."

Have you taken any unofficial visits or are you planning on taking any unofficial visits?

"The only unofficial visit I've ever taken was to Cal."
