Do you currently have an offer from Oregon?
"Currently I don't, but I talked to them on Thursday, had a spring game on Friday and a passing league on Saturday. During my passing league, they wanted to see me at linebacker. I was supposed to call them on Monday, but I haven't heard back from them. I called them yesterday and left a message, so I'm waiting to hear back."
What kind of contact have you had with Oregon since the recruiting process started for you?
"Me and Coach (Don) Pellum are cool, man. I call him on the regular."
Has Coach Pellum been the only guy from Oregon you've been in contact with?
"Him and the defensive coordinator (Nick Allioti). He likes me too. It's just the head coach (Chip Kelly), he hasn't seen a lot of film. He's gotta see the film first because he hasn't seen me."
What's your overall interest in Oregon?
"Oregon...definitely top five."
What is your top five right now?
"My top five, not in order, is Washington, I like Cal, Oregon, USC, and I'd say Miami."
What is it about Oregon that has you so interested?
"With Oregon, I've been doing my research and the people who went to Oregon from my school -- from Poly -- they went there and played. There wasn't any sitting on the bench. They played...I like to play and I like the way Oregon plays. I like the way they shift the defensive end to linebacker and do a little hybrid position. I'm loving to drop back in to coverage, I just gotta prove to coaches...you gotta love the uniforms (too). That doesn't decide where you go, but I love the unis."
How would you describe yourself as a player?
"I'd describe myself as a finesse type. On the defensive line, I'm finesse and I'll get right past you and get straight to the quarterback, but at linebacker, it's different. It's more about head-on collisions...I'd say my motor too. I'm an aggressive type player."
Would you compare yourself to anyone at the collegiate or professional level?
"I have a mindframe of Ray Lewis. That's the way you have to think on the field. Ray Lewis. That's who I think about. He's so focused on the game and he's doing his job. He has an attitude."
What are you looking for in a program?
"First is academics. I'd like to see what majors they're offering. Second, the relationship I'm gonna have with the coaches and how the program is. Third is the atmosphere around it. I want to be around something great."
Have you given any thought as to what you might want to major in when you get to college?
"I'm thinking about business finance and business management."
What offers do you hold right now from other schools?
"I've got offers from Washington, Washington State, Colorado State, Fresno State, and Idaho."
Have you taken any unofficial visits yet, or are you planning on taking any?
"I think I'm going to head up to Washington with Kameron Jackson. I'm not sure when. I think I might go when he takes his trip up there too. I don't have any on my schedule, that's just the one that I thought of. I haven't thought about (unofficials) yet, sir."
In your conversations with Coach Pellum and Coach Allioti, have they discussed getting you up here for an unofficial visit?
"Coach Pellum said I need to come to Oregon and see the atmosphere. He said the atmosphere is somewhere where you could get away from California and do your job in football and actually take care of things business-wise without people being worried about anything."
