Williams "Definitely" Plans To Visit Oregon

Despite hailing from the heart of Gator Country, Gainesville (FL) defensive lineman Jordan Williams favors three schools outside of Florida head coach Urban Meyer's backyard. With the frame and ability to play virtually any position in the front seven of a defense, Williams could be looking west to play college football.

Do you currently have an offer from Oregon?

"Yes I do."

When did they first get in contact with you and what kind of contact have they had with you since the recruiting process started?

"I think the first contact they had with me was in late March, maybe early April. There's been a lot of contact between us. I sent them my highlight (tape) in December and I guess they liked it, so they started recruiting me from then. I went up there for the spring game and liked what I saw. Then they came down and watched me at practice and they offered me after that."

Which coaches from Oregon have you been in the most contact with?

"Don Pellum."

In your conversations with Coach Pellum, has he discussed getting you out for a visit anytime soon?

"I don't know about any coming up, but I'm definitely taking an official out there. I know that. I think I want to take a trip during the summer, because I know my family wants to see what's going on out there."

What were your impressions of Eugene and the university when you were out here during the spring?

"I mean shoot. They have a great program going on. The coaching staff was great, they're showing a lot of love. I've been an Oregon fan for awhile, so it was a great experience."

What is your overall interest in Oregon at this point?

"I mean they're right there at the top."

Do you have a top list of schools at this point?

"Top five is probably Oregon, South Florida, Arkansas, Louisville, and Maryland."

Is that in any particular order at all?

"Well Oregon, South Florida, and Arkansas are probably in the top three."

What is it about Oregon that has you so interested?

"They're a great team and I just love how they run things. It just seems like they got things well organized. They're a family-oriented team. That's what I like about it."

How would you describe yourself as a player?

"I love football, but probably the best thing about my game is my aggressiveness. I'm trying to make the tackle every play."

Would you compare yourself to anyone at the collegiate or professional level?

"Probably Jared Allen. I'm a big, big Jared Allen fan."

What are you looking for in a program?

"A family-oriented team, a head coach that's real involved with his players, and a good all-around strong program that's trying to win football games."

Is distance a factor for you?

"No. Definitely not. I'm trying to go wherever the best fit is."

Have you given any thought as to what you might want to study when you get to college?

"I have given thought, but I'm still not sure yet."

What are some of the offers that you hold right now from other schools?

"I have Oregon, Arkansas, South Florida, Marshall, Louisville, Maryland, Duke, Vanderbilt...and Syracuse."

Have you taken any unofficial visits or are you planning any unofficial visits this summer?

"I went to Junior Day at Florida State, Florida, South Florida, Oregon, Georgia, and South Carolina...I think I'm going to take an unofficial to South Florida and I definitely want to take one to Oregon, but there's nothing planned right now. I think I'm gonna take one to Florida State too."
