O'Grady Has Oregon In Top Three

With family currently residing in the Pacific Northwest, Las Flores (CA) Tesoro defensive end Sean O'Grady appears to favor the University of Oregon along with three other schools. As the summer rolls on, O'Grady has designs on getting up to Eugene whenever he can.

Do you currently have an offer from Oregon?

"No, not from Oregon. I've been talking to Coach (John) Neal and he really wants me to go up there and I really want an offer from there, but as of right now, no."

What kind of contact have you had with Oregon since the recruiting process started for you?

"I've been getting a lot of e-mails. I've just been talking to him (Coach Neal) a lot on the phone and I've been getting a few e-mails from their defensive line coach (Jerry Azzinaro) trying to get me up there to go to one of their camps."

Have Coach Neal and Coach Azzinaro been the two guys from Oregon you've had the most contact with?

"Yeah. Mostly Neal, but I've talked to Azzinaro one time on the e-mail. He said he loved my film and stuff."

What is your overall interest in Oregon?

"Oregon is actually in my top three schools. I love Oregon, Boise State, and then Arizona State. Those are my three favorite schools right now. Out of them, I only have an offer from Arizona State. But with Oregon, I'm really looking forward to getting more interest from them. I'm definitely gonna go up there this summer when I have some time to check out the campus and meet the coaches."

What is it about Oregon that has you so interested in the program right now?

"My aunts actually live up there -- they live in Eugene, Oregon -- so I've kind of followed them my whole life. I'm just obsessed with their uniforms and the training facility is awesome up there. I looked at the campus and it's awesome up there; it looks beautiful. It seems like a good fit for me."

How would you describe yourself as a player?

"I have a great work ethic. I'm always training hard, trying to get to the next level. I'm working on weekend with this kid Phil to get better. He's going to Arizona State too and he's got a lot of Pac-10 offers. I just work really hard, I'm quick off the edge, and I love spin moves (laughter)."

Is there a guy at the collegiate or professional level that you try to pattern your game after at all?

"Yeah, Jared Allen. I'm obsessed with Jared Allen. Jared Allen and I like Dwight Freeney as well, but mostly Jared Allen. I follow him a lot."

What are you looking for in a program?

"Of course academics, but I've loved football my whole life and I've been playing it since I was four years old and all my uncles played D-1 ball and when on to play pro and stuff, so football's always been my biggest dream. I mainly just look at the football program and after that, if I love the football program, of course I look at the campus, see if it's a big or small school, and academics and what they have set up for me to do after college."

Have you given any thought as to what you might want to study when you get to college?

"I'm still undecided. I have no idea yet."

What are some of the offers that you have from other schools?

"Right now I have San Diego State -- which I love and I checked that out and they have cool facilities -- and then I have Arizona State, Washington State, and I have North Dakota and Colorado State."

And your top three is Oregon, Boise State, and Arizona State at this point?

"Yeah, and include San Diego State. I love San Diego State and it's close to my house."

Is your top list of schools in any particular order?

"That's just a general order. Those are just the top schools that I could see myself fitting in, but I haven't seen them all to arrange them in order of how much I like them."

Have you taken any unofficial visits yet, or are you planning on taking any unofficial visits?

"So far I've only been to San Diego State -- I went to a camp and stuff and met all the coaches in person. Ones I've planned...I don't have any dates set but I know I'm definitely gonna go to Arizona and check out them, Arizona State...and I'll probably go to Washington to check out University of Washington as well as Washington State because they offered me. And then I'll definitely go up to Oregon as well."
