With A Duck Offer, Almond Would Commit

A self-described intense player who tries to pattern himself in the image of the late Sean Taylor, Pomona (CA) Diamond Ranch defensive back Aaron Almond believes the University of Oregon is where he wants to play football. The only problem is that he's currently missing an offer.

Do you currently have an offer from Oregon?

What kind of contact have you had with Oregon since the recruiting process began?

"I got e-mails from them almost every week."

Have you spoke over the phone or one-on-one with any of the coaches from Oregon?

"I spoke with Coach (John) Neal."

How often have you been in touch with Coach Neal?

"I e-mail him very often...probably like three times a month I'll e-mail him."

In your conversations with Coach Neal, have they talked about an offer possibly coming through for you down the road?

"They want to see how my grades end up coming...they wanted me to come up to the camp, but I was still in school."

What is your overall interest in Oregon right now?

"If they offer me, I'll commit right then and there."

What is it about Oregon that has you so high on them?

"Just the atmosphere, the uprising of them, and the program -- they get the defensive backs out (to the NFL)."

Have you been to Eugene before?

"No I haven't."

How would you describe yourself as a player?

"Very intense. I play with an intensity. I leave my heart out on the field, explosive, a playmaker, a hard hitter, a coverage guy, very quick and I come downhill."

Is there a player at the collegiate or professional level that you try to pattern your game after?

"A player I try to pattern my game after is Sean Taylor."

Is Oregon looking at you more at corner or safety?

"Oregon, I guess, they want me as a safety, but a lot of other schools like me at either safety or corner."

What are you looking for in a program?

"The history, the academics, and the atmosphere of the college."

Have you given any thought as to what you might want to study when you get to school?

"Sports management."

What are some of the offers that you have right now from other schools?

"Colorado State, New Mexico State, and San Diego State."

Are there any other schools in the mix that you've been hearing a lot from?

"Washington, USC, and UCLA."

Do you have a top three or top five or anything like that at this point?

"My school that I'd like to go to school to is Oregon, but Washington and USC are there too."

Have you taken any unofficial visits this summer or are you planning on taking any?

"I plan on going up to Eugene and going up to Washington, but I went to the USC Rising Stars camp and that's about it so far."
