First Two Home Games to be Televised

EUGENE – The University of Oregon's first two home football games of the 2010 season will be televised throughout the majority of the state on Comcast SportsNet, according to an announcement by the university's athletics department, IMG College and Comcast SportsNet.

The Ducks' Sept. 4 season opener vs. New Mexico, as well as their second home game of the year against Portland State (Sept. 18), will be carried in Oregon and Washington by Comcast Digital Cable (for channel listings, visit In addition, the two games will be broadcast over the air in Eugene-Springfield by KLSR-TV.

The two games also will be available worldwide via the internet on the athletics department's official website,, through the O Zone.

Kickoff for the New Mexico game is 12:30 p.m., while the Sept. 18 Portland State contest is scheduled to start at 3:15 p.m.

The addition of the two Comcast SportsNet telecasts will result in each of the Ducks' first five games of the season being televised. Oregon's second game of the year - Sept. 11 at Tennessee - will be aired on ESPN2, Sept. 25 at Arizona State on Fox Sports Net, and Oct. 2 vs. Stanford on ESPN.

Veteran announcers Joe Giansante and Anthony Newman will continue to provide commentary on the Ducks' telecasts. The Oregon Sports Network also confirmed the addition of former Oregon quarterback standout Joey Harrington to the broadcast team for a select number of telecasts. The 2001 Heisman Trophy finalist and eight-year NFL veteran hosted a college and professional football radio program on Fox Sports Radio last fall.

Comcast SportsNet also announced that it will launch seven days of "Ducks' Week" programming leading up to the Ducks' 2010 season opener, beginning on Sunday, Aug. 29.

"Oregon Football Preview," a 30-minute Oregon Sports Network production, will first air at 6:30 p.m. Sunday and continue throughout the week. "Oregon Football Special" is a one-hour Comcast SportsNet live show that will debut at 6 p.m. Monday.

Throughout next week, Comcast SportsNet will re-broadcast five of the Ducks' most exciting 2009 Pacific-10 Conference games. The programming schedule includes contests vs. Oregon State Aug. 29 (7 p.m.) and Sept. 3 (7 p.m.); California Aug. 30 (7 p.m.) and Aug. 31 (7 a.m. and midnight); Washington Aug. 31 (7:30 p.m.) and Sept. 1 (7 a.m. and midnight); USC Sept. 1 (7 p.m.) and Sept. 2 (midnight); and Arizona Sept. 2 (7 p.m.) and Sept. 3 (midnight).

Comcast SportsNet's program lineup will include a weekly sports talk show, "Talkin' Ball," with an all-Ducks special scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 2, as well as a 90-minute live pregame show, "Countdown to Kickoff," prior to the Sept. 4 opener, beginning at 11 a.m.

Among the additional cable systems expected to air the Comcast SportsNet programming are Ashland TV (Ashland), Beaver Creek Cable (Beaver Creek/Oregon City), BendBroadband (Bend), Country Cablevision (Salem), and Verizon (Portland and Seattle).
