Autzen Begins Its 44th Season

EUGENE – As the University of Oregon football team gears to kickoff the 2010 season with Saturday's 12:30 p.m. season opener vs. New Mexico, efforts have been formulated to make the experience for fans as enjoyable and safe as possible.

Among the changes that may not be visible to everyone is a revised policy for fans requiring disabled parking access. The policy is designed to ensure those parking spaces are utilized by those deserving patrons who meet the criteria. Vehicles eligible to utilize the disabled parking areas not only will be required to display the mandatory disabled parking placards, proper identification from the individual who has registered the disabled parking placard also will be required.

Parking lots within the confines of the Autzen Stadium complex again will open four hours prior to kickoff, with overnight parking not available. Parking lots outside of the stadium footprint are managed by independent vendors and are subject to their own regulations in regards to hours of operation.

Fans are encouraged to take advantage of the LTD Sports Shuttles to and from Autzen Stadium, with seven Park-and-Ride locations available throughout the Eugene-Springfield area. The shuttles begin operation four hours before kickoff and will run every 10 to 20 minutes. Return trips are available only during halftime as well as immediately following the conclusion of the game and extending for 60 minutes.

The round-trip fare is $5 and collected at pre-game boarding. The LTD Eugene Station and the Lane County Fairgrounds will be offering a special round-trip fare of only $3 for all six home games. Riders also may purchase an $18 season pass at the Athletics Department Ticket Office on the north side of the Casanova Center or at LTD Customer Service at the Eugene Station.

The perimeter gates surrounding Autzen Stadium, which includes access into the Moshofsky Center, will open three hours prior to kickoff, while fans will be allowed into the stadium bowl 90 minutes before the game.

The PK Park Experience, which features pre-game and in-game festivities for the first time this season, will open four hours prior to kickoff.

In order to promote a fan-friendly environment on game days, fans are again encouraged to report any unwanted behavior to security personnel by texting the ConDUCKt hotline on their cell phones at 541-222-9121. Spectators witnessing unsportsmanlike behavior are asked to include their seat location as well as their concerns when reporting a complaint. The hotline will be activated 90 minutes prior to kickoff of each home game and remain open until approximately 30 minutes following its conclusion.

Once again, bags and backpacks will be permitted into Autzen Stadium upon inspection by security personnel at points of entry. Factory sealed non-alcoholic beverages and empty plastic containers also will be allowed into the stadium. However partially filled plastic containers and vacuum or insulated containers (i.e. thermoses) will not be permitted into the stadium. Patrons will be asked to empty the contents of non-sealed containers before entry into Autzen Stadium is allowed.

As instructed by the Pacific-10 Conference, fans are asked to wait for 5 minutes following the end of the game before entering the field to exit the stadium.
