Winners of Texting Contest Revealed

Virginia couple grabs field passes and press box seats from Uplifting Athletes and Fight On State. The contest is over, but you can still sign up for the free texting service.

Fight On State and Uplifting Athletes are pleased to announce the winners of our Lion Alerts text updates contest.

Longtime Uplifting Athletes supporter Pat Boyer of Virginia and his wife Trish will be on the field for pregame warmups when Penn State takes on Kent State at Beaver Stadium this weekend. They will then head to the press box to watch the action.

Pat, who is also an FOS premium subscriber, won the contest when his phone number was picked at random from those of the hundreds of people who signed up for our new texting service (text PSU to 27138 if you'd like the free service) over the past few weeks.

“This is great,” Pat said. “I'm excited. We've been supporters of Uplifting Athletes and Lift For Life for some time now. To be able to help the cause and win the game passes is terrific.”

Here is how our new free texting service works. Just text PSU to 27138 to opt in. When serious breaking news comes out of the Penn State football program, we'll let you know via text that it is time to head to for details.

In the meantime, you will also receive occasional updates from Uplifting Athletes, the student-athlete run philanthropy that raises money and awareness for the fight against rare diseases. Penn State Uplifting Athletes stages the Nittany Lions' Lift For Life Challenge every year.

This is a free service. But your service provider's standard texting and data rates may apply. You can opt out at any time.

If you'd like to try it out, simply text PSU to 27138.

In the meantime, we hope you join us in congratulating Pat and Trish Boyer for winning the contest and thanking them for supporting Uplifting Athletes and FOS.
