Nittany Lions Knock Off Indiana

The Nittany Lions managed to open Big Ten play on a positive note, knocking off Indiana 69-60 in Assembly Hall on Monday evening.

Penn State (8-4, 1-0) managed to snap Indiana's (9-5, 0-1) nine-game home win streak on the back of Jeff Brooks' career-high 23-point effort. The Monday night contest kicked-off the Big Ten slate for PSU.

Talor Battle also contributed 19 points to help the Lions hold off the Hoosiers 69-60 in front of a wild crowd in Assembly Hall. It marked the second straight victory for the Lions in Bloomington in as many years.

Indiana was attempting to stop a recent skid dropping back-to-back contests, but Verdell Jones' 15 points were not enough for their comeback push as the Lions hit clutch free throws as the game drew to a close.

Penn State was focused on stopping a two-game skid of their own, dropping decisions to Virginia Tech (79-69) and Maine (74-64). Next up the Lions head to Ann Arbor to face the Wolverines on Sunday for a 4:00 pm ET tipoff.

The victory over Indiana marks the fourth time in five seasons that Penn State has won their Big Ten opener.
