Change of Direction

The Penn State football staff has apparently changed direction with their recruitment of Scout four-star defensive tackle Darian Cooper. Get the latest here.

With Letter of Intent Day quickly approaching four-star defensive tackle prospect Darian Cooper was poised to take another look at Penn State this weekend.

As Cooper told earlier this week:

"I have been up to Penn State a few times but I want to see the day to day life as a student there and get to meet with the coaching staff more in-depth. I met them all but getting to meet with the defensive coordinator and the professors and stuff like that and see the team and how they bond together, that's important."

However Penn State has seemingly reversed field on the recruitment of the DeMatha High (Hyattsville, MD) prospect and the visit has since been canceled. It was anticipated that Cooper was prepared to commit to the Nittany Lions' Class of 2011 in short order, perhaps even this weekend.

Early indications are the explanation for the cancellation are that Penn State's Class of 2011, but stay tuned to Fight On State as our recruiting staff digs more into this story.

With PSU seemingly out of the picture, Cooper's top three are Iowa, Georgia Tech and Michigan State.
