Penn State said to be the latest school to enter the race for the talented defensive tackle from Indiana.
Scout.com's Allen Trieu reports that Sheldon Day
, a defensive tackle from Warren Central High in Indianapolis, has received a verbal offer for a scholarship from Penn State
Day, who played alongside Virginia Tech signee Kris Harley last season, already had an impressive offer list that included the Hokies, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Arkansas, Stanford and Wake Forest.
In an interview with Scout's Bill Greene earlier this week, Day described his game as such:
"My greatest strength would be that I have a high motor and I use my hands real well. I'm working on everything to be an even better player, and I'm studying film to learn the position. I also need to be able to get off blocks better."
Defensive tackle is a clear area of need for Penn State's Class of 2012.
