FOS-TV: Paterno Talks CVIM

The Nittany Lion coach made a brief appearance on campus Thursday to promote a local charity that provides health care for the uninsured.

As a state employee for more than 60 years now, it has been a long time since 84-year-old Penn State coach Joe Paterno has had to worry about having health insurance.

But he knows others are not so fortunate. So every year, Paterno and his wife Sue help promote the organization Centre Volunteers in Medicine, whose stated goal is to "provide care for the uninsured or underinsured in Centre Country."

The Paternos stopped by PSU's Multisport Facility Thursday to take photos with and talk to runners who will participate in CVIM's Marathoners for Medicine event this year.

The runners will participate in the Boston Marathon April 19. They use the high-profile race to solicit donations on behalf of CVIM.

See what Paterno had to say following Thursday's grip-and-grin in our video above.
