Four Lions to NCAA Semis

Cael Sanderson has four wrestlers who earned All-American honors on their way to advancing to the NCAA Championship semi-finals on Friday.

Penn State's wrestling team boasts four 2011 All-Americans in Andrew Long, Frank Molinaro, David Taylor and Quentin Wright all of whom advanced to the NCAA Championship semi-finals in Philadelphia on Friday.

Long (133) pinned Central Michigan's Scotti Sentes in his quarterfinal bout, while Molinaro (149) defeated Mario Mason of Rutgers 4-2. Taylor (157) dimissed Iowa's Derek St. John with a 6-3 decision. And Wright dominated No. 1 seeded Chris Honeycutt of Edinboro with three take-downs in a 7-3 victory.

As of this report, Cornell holds a slight point advantage over PSU with 61.0 points to the Nittany Lions' 60.5. Iowa is currently in third with 52.0 points while American has 49.0 points and Oklahoma State has 44.5 points.

PSU went 4-4 in session three and through the three tournament sessions 19-5 overall.

Both Ed Ruth (174) and Cameron Wade (heavyweight) were injured in the third session. Both are expected to return in consolation action this evening.
