Severin Set to Check Out Happy Valley

Worcester (Mass.) Academy standout WR Canaan Severin talked to Fight On State about what he's looking forward to during his Blue-White Weekend visit and a change in perspective on the recruiting process.

For 6-foot-4, 210 pound WR prospect Canaan Severin, one thing set Penn State apart from the rest during his last visit.

"My favorite thing about the Michigan game was just getting to see the Penn State family," Severin said. "With all the players, fans and coaches – because that family is one of the biggest families in college football."

That family atmosphere is bringing Severin back for another visit on Blue-White weekend.

"I'm excited about seeing the whole campus because when I came to the Michigan game all I saw were the football facilities," Severin said. "Hopefully, this time when I visit I can go see some classrooms and maybe even where the players get their work done."

He added, "I'm just excited to see the life of a Penn State player."

Something else Severin is looking forward to? The rest of the recruiting process -- something that he says is not close to an end.

"I'm so excited to visit the schools and camps that are looking at me, and visit the schools I currently have offers from," Severin said. "It's going to give me a chance to travel to different parts of the country and capture a really good experience while doing it."

Severin has five offers from the ACC, Big East and Big Ten. And even though he is only at the beginning of the recruiting process, it's already changed the way he views his top schools -- including PSU.

"When I tell people Penn State has offered me, people are like ‘Whoa,'" Severin said with a laugh. "That just means, it's kind of a big deal."
