A Bloody Good Time

Penn State linebacker Mauti came out of the spring game with a new battle scar that called to mind one of the Nittany Lions' all-time great 'backers.

When it comes to the men who have helped Penn State earn the reputation of "Linebacker U," Paul Posluszny can be considered a cut above most of the pack. He finished his college career as the school's all-time leading tackler.

One of the most enduring images of Posluszny is a sideline shot where he has his helmet propped up on top of his head and there is blood streaming from a gash on the bridge of his nose.

Current Nittany Lion Mike Mauti, who many view as the next great one at Linebacker U, was rocking a similar look at the Blue-White Game Saturday. He opened a cut on the bridge of his nose while making a tackle in the first half, an injury that was later glued shut by the PSU medical staff.

"It's one of those things where you have a sense of pride," Mauti said. "But at the same time, having cut on your nose doesn't make you a good linebacker."

We caught up with Mauti after the game to talk about the cut and more. Check it out above.
