DeChellis Bound for Navy

Penn State basketball coach has resigned to take a similar position at the military academy.

Ed DeChellis is leaving the Penn State basketball program to take the head-coaching job at Navy, according to a source with the Nittany Lions.

DeChellis will hold a press conference at 7 p.m. at the Jordan Center to address the matter.

DeChellis just wrapped up his eighth season at Penn State, and led the Nittany Lions to their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2001. They lost in the first round to Temple.

The program is facing significant graduation losses, though, including all-time leading scorer Talor Battle and fellow starters Jeff Brooks, David Jackson and Andrew Jones.

DeChellis went 114-138 at Penn State and sports an overall career mark of 213-231.
