Catching Up With Lewis

One of Penn State's top WR prospects is Wyoming Valley West HS standout Eugene Lewis. Fight On State caught up with Lewis about his summer plans, his interest in the Lions and a decision he will be making soon.

Four-star WR Eugene Lewis is one of the top WR prospects in the country, and with over 20 offers, his recruiting process isn't slowing down at all.

"I am going to visit Maryland and Rutgers this summer," Lewis said. "But I'm not sure when yet."

But that's not all Lewis' summer schedule includes, He is also planning on several 7-on-7 appearances with his Wyoming Valley West HS team.

"I think we might have one at the end of the month," Lewis said of the 7-on-7 competitions. "But we have a lot during the summer."

The offers keep rolling in for the Plymouth, Pa., standout, he's already at around 22 – and he has a feeling that Miami and Oregon are very close to offering, as well.

But would Lewis want to travel that far away for college?

"I don't know," Lewis said. "I would definitely take official visits to both of them [Oregon and Miami] just to see what they are both like, but I don't know."

Even though Lewis might check out schools farther away, his favorite might be one of the closest to his home – Penn State.

"I talk to Coach (Mike) McQueary like once a week," Lewis said. "So we have a pretty good relationship."

Lewis will narrow down his offers into a top five at the end of June, and just one school has already made the cut.

"Penn State definitely," Lewis said of the schools in his top five. "But I'm not sure about the others yet."

One thing is for sure -- the Nittany Lions are in a good place with Lewis going into the summer.
