Spotlight On 2013

For some of the top prospects of the class of 2013, recruiting is beginning to heat up. Fight On State caught up with several 2013 prospects to see where the Lions were on their lists.

The Lions are in good shape with plenty of the Northeast's top 2013 prospects -- including highly touted Bishop Mcnamara HS starting QB Milan Collins.

"I am very interested in Penn State," Collins said. "This summer I am going to Maryland and I want to go to Penn State, and I am going to the Peyton Manning Passing Academy in July (In New Orleans)."

For the Forestville, Md., standout athleticism runs in the family -- his father, Derwin "Tank" Collins was a football standout at UNLV and University of New Orleans.

Another top prospect with interest in the Lions is Piscataway, N.J. CB/WR Kyle LaPorte.

La'Porte plans on attending camp at Penn State on June 26th, and it wont be the first time he has visited Happy Valley.

"I went last year," La'Porte said. "And the year before that, it was good."

So what does La'Porte think about the Lions?

"I like Penn State," La'Porte said. "Its cool, nice, and close to home."

But, the Lions aren't the only ones who La'Porte is hearing from.

"I am hearing from Florida, Penn State, Rutgers, Michigan State, Clemson, Uconn, Georgia Tech, Maryland, Miami, Oregon, Wisconsin, and Georgia," La'Porte said.

Two more prospects that like the Lions are Ron Womack and Shaquille James -- both of West Philadelphia Catholic High School.

"I like the football team," Womack said. "I like that it is in my state, and I know a few people that are attending Penn State now and they tell me good things about the school."

The same goes for James.

"I am interested in Penn State," James said. "I was trying to go up for the camp but I had no way up, hopefully next year I will."

Both have talked to current Nittany Lion WR, and West Philadelphia Catholic alum Curtis Drake.
