West Philadelphia standout WR Shaquille James is one class of 2013 prospect to watch out for -- and he likes the Lions.
"I am interested in Penn State," James said. "I was trying to go up for the camp this summer but I had no way up, hopefully next year I will."
Although he is only beginning his junior year of high school in the fall, he is already hearing from colleges.
"I am mainly getting stuff from Maryland," James said of his recruitment. "They want me to come to their camp."
Want to know more about the Philadelphia native?
"I run a 4.5 in the 40," James said. "I run a 4.2 shuttle, my vertical is 33.8 and I max out at 225."
He continued, "I will be the starting slot wideout for West Catholic High School."
Even though he has developed into a standout wideout, he is taking a different route for college -- he is being recruited as an athlete.
But what exactly does he like about the Lions?
"A fellow West Catholic player told me how good Penn State was," James said. "And I like how every year Penn State competes in their conference. And I also see that they give people chances."
That's not all James has heard about the Lions, he knows West Philadelphia Catholic HS alum Curtis Drake -- and he likes how the Lions use a slot receiver in their scheme.
As for his plans for the coming year?
"This is my junior year," James said. "And I am going to go to a lot of camps and I am going all out."
And even though James doesn't have a highlight tape compiled just yet, he has no doubt of what his strong points are.
"My strengths on the field is my speed and vision," James said.
Strengths that James will try to capitalize on during his final two seasons at West Philadelphia Catholic HS.
