Cox On Getting The Call

Penn State Head Coach Joe Paterno is heating up the recruiting game by reaching out to top recruits. FOS caught up with Demetrious Cox -- one of the latest recruits to speak with Paterno.

Tuesday morning, Jeannette HS safety prospect Demetrious Cox got the chance to do something only a handful of his peers have experienced -- talk on the phone to Penn State Hall of Fame Coach Joe Paterno.

"It went really well," Cox said of the call. "It wasn't long though."

It's no secret that the staff would love to add Cox as one of the highlights of their class of 2012 -- and Coach Paterno echoed that in the call.

"He told me that they have a defense that plays a lot of safeties," Cox said. "And how much they wanted me and they have had good luck with Jeannette guys in the past."

Cox also said that Paterno asked him to plan a trip to State College sometime this summer.

As for his other summer plans?

Cox will be heading out to Oregon July 5th to check out the Oregon Nike Camp, and he plans on playing in a handful of 7-on-7 tournaments -- potentially even one Saturday at Pittsburgh.
