Westray Talks Summer Recruiting

Waldorf, Md., DB Michael Westray's recruitment is heating up quickly. He talked to Fight On State about his summer plans, and a new offer.

It's MD DB Michael Westray last day of his junior year at Westlake HS -- and he is already ready to focus on football this summer.

"School is going well, I am actually close to getting a 4.0 this quarter," Westray said. "That's my goal."

Another goal of his this summer is simple.

"I hope to gain some exposure," Westray said.

And after three camps, East Carolina, North Carolina State, and Duke -- he is doing just that.

So how have the camps been going so far?

"Great," Westray said. "I have had a lot of interceptions and shut down coverage."

He added, "Overall a great performance."

An impressive enough performance to pick up his first offer -- from NC State.

"Coach Willis called me Sunday to let me know they wanted to offer me," Westray said. "They just had to clear up a few things."

He continued, "Today he called back and said, 'Michael we would like to offer you, we really liked your performance."

To which Westray is, "so excited."

Another thing the standout DB is looking forward is coming up Friday and Saturday.

"I am extremely excited about camping at Penn State," Westray said.

So what should we expect from him at Penn State's Rising Senior Camp?

"An overall shocking performance," Westray said simply.

He hopes to continue the impressive performances not just throughout the summer -- but into his senior year on the gridiron.

"I am stepping up as a leader," Westray said of his upcoming season. "Things are looking promising so far."

Look for the Waldorf, Md., to play both ways for Westlake HS this fall.
