The Derry Area, Pa. prospect has an impressive career record of 111-3 and has been recruited by upwards of 20 programs including Iowa, Cornell and Ohio State, in fact there were indications he was the top target for the Hawkeye's Class of 2012. However, despite the interest, he indicates that he did not seriously consider any other program aside from PSU.
As for why he quickly chose the Nittany Lions, Gulibon told Intermat, "The awesome coaches. I checked out the facility and it was really nice. One of my buddies will be going to school there. There are a lot of really good kids on the team. And also they're No. 1 in the country."
Aside from his credentials on the mat, Gulibon has been compared to Penn State head coach Cael Sanderson as an athlete who shies away from the media spotlight.
Gulibon won his last state title at 119-pounds and projects to wrestle at 125/133-pounds. As he explained, "I would love to be an All-American and hopefully I can become an NCAA champion. I think with the coaches at Penn State, I possibly can."
