Colts Head Coach and fromer Penn State assistant Coach Jim Caldwell followed up the tweet with a statement, saying:
"It is a good opportunity to have Kerry become part of the team. He is a veteran quarterback who has started many games and he brings dimension and depth to the quarterback position, which will be helpful. He is familiar with our division and will make a great addition to our roster."
Colts quarterback Peyton Manning is still recovering from neck surgery he underwent in May and his return at the start of the season was questionable. The move to sign Collins indicates that the Colts are being realistic about Manning's immediate return.
Over 195 career games, Collins had a 55.8 completion percentage and threw for 40,441 yards, 206 touchdowns and 195 interceptions.
