Official Depth Chart Released

Penn State unveiled its first lineup rundown of the 2011 season. Historically, this is one of the least accurate depth charts of the year.

Penn State released its first depth chart of the 2011 season.

But anyone expecting the document to provide an answer to the question of who will start at quarterback when the Nittany Lions open with Indiana State this weekend will be disappointed.

Rob Bolden and Matt McGloin — in that order — are listed as possible starters.

The only real surprise on the depth chart is senior DeOn'tae Pannell being listed as the first-teamer at left guard. Johnnie Troutman, who was running with the first team earlier in the preseason, is now at second team right guard.

Evan Lewis is listed as the starting place-kicker. Don't expect that to be the case, though. True freshman Sam Ficken will likely get the nod vs. ISU.

Senior tailback Stephfon Green, who was booted from the team early in the preseason but allowed back last week, is not on the depth chart. There are four other tailbacks on the depth chart, including starter Silas Redd, and backups Brandon Beachum, Curtis Dukes and walk-on Derek Day.
