OVERALL: A win is a win is a win. But this W did not have to be nearly so difficult to come by.
OFFENSE: Even when presented with a short field, more often than not the Lions did not capitalize. Luckily for them they came through when it mattered most, though.
DEFENSE: After giving up a long TD drive to start the game, the defense stepped up. It forced turnovers and clamped down on talented running back Bernard Pierce. We're not sure if the Owl QBs were that bad or if the Lions simply made them look so awful.
SPECIAL TEAMS: This comedy routine could have -- and probably should have -- cost Penn State the game. Who needs a special teams' coach?
COACHING: The very poor play of the special teams and generally poor play of the offense offset much of the good done by the defense. Seems like we've heard this story before.
INTANGIBLES: In the end, the Nittany Lion did what they always do to the Owls -- beat them.
OTHER GUY: If Temple didn't beat Penn State in this sort of game, you really have to wonder if it will ever happen.
OFFICIALS: A vast improvement over the previous week. But we still saw some dicey spots.
CROWD: As amped as Philadelphia was supposed to be over this Temple team, we didn't even see the largest Linc crowd for an Owl game in school history.
